Windows for renovation

The term “renovation windows” describes windows intended to replace existing ones in buildings. They may be PVC, timber or aluminium, matched to the home's architecture and the scope of renovation. Frame proportions, layout, colour and installation method are important. We prepare made-to-measure windows and agree the removal, installation and finishing work.

Application

Replacing windows in an existing building

In Dutch homes, frame and sash proportions, installation depth and the relationship to the brick facade are important. When choosing a system, we compare the existing appearance with the possibilities of new systems. We also consider handles, trickle vents, sills and the opening style.

Renovation does not always mean reproducing every detail exactly. The scope of changes depends on the owner's plans, the building's condition and any requirements to preserve the facade. If such requirements apply, we account for them when preparing the quote.

01

Measuring and condition of openings

We check dimensions, how the existing frames are installed and the condition of the reveals. This helps determine replacement options and plan work at the window-to-wall connection.

02

Divisions and details

We select visible profile widths, colour, glazing bars and opening method. We confirm the availability of unusual shapes and the ability to reproduce details for the chosen solution.

03

Removal and finishing

We agree the work on sills, reveals and façade connections. The quotation covers the agreed tasks so the replacement process can be planned.

Before choosing

Material selection for renovation

PVC
A wide choice of colours and foils lets you match the windows to the facade. When selecting them, we consider profile proportions and variants designed for Dutch architecture.
Wood
The natural material can give windows and doors a traditional character. We select the wood species, profile shape and coating with both appearance and future maintenance in mind.
Aluminium
It can suit renovations that call for slim lines or larger glazed areas. We compare structural options and finishes with the project requirements.

Questions before buying

Windows for renovation — what should you know?

Can new windows retain the appearance of the old ones?

In many cases, the colour, layout and details can be matched closely to the existing windows and doors. The degree of matching depends on the chosen material, system and construction. Bring photos of the whole façade and close-ups of distinctive details to the discussion.

Can I choose a different opening style?

We check the options for the specific opening and system. Various solutions are available, including selected outward-opening designs. Any change must account for the room's use, the facade's appearance and installation conditions.

Does the quote include removing the old windows and repairing the reveals?

We agree on the scope before you order. We specify whether the quotation includes removal, collection of old windows and doors, window sills and finishing of the reveals. This lets you compare the complete scope of work, rather than just the price of new windows.
